Donna Piët

Due to moving a lot, my life has always consisted of fragments, of chapters. Time was fragmented into chapters, each in a different place. Space was fragmented. I mostly make videos consisting of many short, unrelated, fragments, filmed throughout my daily life, which I constantly reorganize into new experiences. I take them out of their context, their place and time, and also dismantle space and time within them, playing with speed, repetition, zoom, and looping.

My marker drawings are scribbled, often insignificant, momentary thoughts. Fragments of my thoughts. Although they exist as autonomous images, they too, like the videos, only gain true meaning through their existence in contrast with the rest; as part of a series or collection.
